Currently in Victoria the law related to property settlements between separated same sex couples are similar to those of heterosexual defacto couples. Changes to the law will occur in 2009 when new Commonwealth legislation comes into effect. We are updating this page to detail those changes. In the meantime please contact us for further information.
The rights of children of same sex parents are sometimes different to those of heterosexual parents. Some of these differences are covered in our surrogacy and step-parent adoption pages.
